Capturing Milestones: A Joint Baptism
There is no higher compliment for a photographer than when a family asks you back to capture another major milestone.
Earlier this year, we welcomed baby Mckenzie into the EJC Photography studio for her newborn portraits. It feels like just a few weeks ago she was a tiny, swaddled newborn, so we were thrilled when her parents reached out to book us again. This time, the occasion was even more special: a joint baptism for Mckenzie and her big sister.
From the Studio to the Church
Switching from a quiet, controlled newborn studio session to a live family event is always an exciting shift. It was incredible to see how much Mckenzie has grown in just a few short months, but the real highlight was watching her interact with her big sister.
Photographing a joint baptism means capturing two very different energies, which made the day incredibly fun to document:
- Mckenzie taking in the surroundings with wide, curious eyes.
- Her big sister showing immense pride and taking her role as big sister very seriously.
- The shared glances and candid smiles between the sisters during the ceremony.
A Meaningful Family Day
The service was a beautiful celebration of family and tradition. Surrounded by godparents, grandparents, and close friends, both girls handled the ceremony beautifully.
Capturing these moments is all about documenting the authentic details—from the dresses to the quiet, reassuring hugs from Mom and Dad right before the service started.
Photographer’s Note: Documenting two children during a live ceremony requires quick reflexes, but Mckenzie and her big sister made it easy. Both were absolute stars throughout the service and the reception that followed.
Documenting the Chapters of Your Family’s Story
As a family photographer, my favorite projects are the ones where I get to build a continuous visual history for a family. Looking at Mckenzie’s newborn photos alongside these new baptism portraits shows a beautiful timeline of growth and connection.
